My Life with Coupons

I recently was schooled in the art of coupons. So since April I have been wheeling and dealing and stocking my food storage in the process, (but only at a 1/5 of the price).

Before April I had no idea that you could take a trip to the store and return home with a car full of groceries, having spent less than a dollar. (Now, the coupons have to line up to get things for free, but it does happen quite often).

I have been asked, "So what do you have to buy to get this stuff for free?" or, "Are you buying stuff you normally wouldn't buy to get something else free"? The answer is NO.

Amazingly enough it is as simple as matching a manufacturer coupon, with a store coupon or sale, or both.

My favorite are the double manufacturer coupons that Albertson's puts out occasionally. When they do this you can double up to a $1.00 value. When matched with a sale going on I often get the items for free.

So where do you get manufacturer coupons?

There are packets of manufacturer coupons in all the Sunday papers. So every week on Monday morning I go to the Dollar Tree where they sell Sunday papers for $1.00. I buy 4 papers unless I know there is an Albertson's doubler flier in it. In that case I get 8 papers. ( You can and should ask your neighbors and family members, if they get the paper, for their coupons. Often times they just get thrown out).

NOTE: Dennies has a box out front that has Sunday papers all week.

Also there is a plethora of manufacturer's coupons online! These are some of my favorites!

Sites I use most often:
Coupons.com

SmartSource.com

RedPlum.com

AFullCup.com (only target store coupons)

Couponsmom.com

Hotcouponworld.com

Mambosprouts.com (organic food coupons)

Sites that sometimes have great coupons:
Kraftfoods.com

Bettycrocker.com

Eatbetteramerica.com

Eatingwell.com

Pillsbury.com

Homesolutionsnew.us (I have had problems printing here... don't know why, but good coupons).

Wednesday is when the store coupons and most of the grocery store's sale fliers come.

So I call Monday and Wednesday "Coupon Days" in our home my kids know what that means. :)

I am still considered a "newby" to coupons, but I just love doing it so much that I wanted to start a blog about it! However, I am going to give you links to other great sites, of experts, so that hopefully you can learn something more from them.

My favorites:

fistfullofcoupons.blogspot.com
( I check this site once a day to make sure I am current in the coupon world. Plus she is a local.)

athriftymom.com

stretchingabuckblog.com

Well I hope for those of you who are new to coupons, as I was just a short while ago, enjoyed this short introduction to the World of Coupons. Please leave me a comment if you have questions, or contact me.

If you are an old pro I would love your feedback and knowledge as well!

  1. Hey girly, sorry I missed your call today and never got back to you. Busy day. I love your blog pages by the way. So I gotta tell you I have heard only glimpses of what you do to save money, but I think I am missing something because I tried this last shopping trip to have coupons in hand and shop, oh man was I stressed out. I was super flustered, maybe not to confident as well. So I need to get on the phone with you and have you help me out! I will try to call tommorrow. Love ya!
